I came, I saw, and I shopped! (round two)

[currently reading: J.D. Robb, "Imitation in Death" ]

So much for thinking that I had done most of my shopping at Otakon. NOT! My ShoujoCon haul consists of the complete set of Morimoto Shuw's (she's the person who does G-Defend) other series Jinjuu Houretsuden (13 volumes of it!), the G-Defend artbook, a Superworks collection of prints from "Ice Cold Demon's Tale", and doujinshi. LOTS and LOTS of doujinshi -- mostly Final Fantasy 7 and Gundam Wing, with a sprinkling of Yami no Matsuei, YuGiOh, and Rurouni Kenshin. Hopefully, I'll be putting up a few scans soon. Just as well that I don't go to any other cons, otherwise I would be truly penniless. ^_^;;;

As for ShoujoCon, I don't think I went to a single program or event. ::sweatdrop:: Most of the time I hung out with Amy-chan or Sakka-chan, or spent time loitering around the Shoujo Paradise dealer's table, getting scolded by Jaana for blocking people's access to her boxes of doujinshi! ::mock-sniffle:: I finally got a chance to meet Amy-chan's friend Cassie, too. ^_^ Jaana and Cassie took the opportunity to hound me about my Gundam Wing fics (especially Dominion Road)... which is good, because it helps keep me focused and motivated. Yes, my imagination is such a total whore -- it's so damn easily distracted by a gorgeous bishie, an interesting plot, etc.

::looks around nervously::

I've definitely been bitten by the Morimoto Shuw bug. G-Defend is wonderful and Jinjuu Houretsuden is just as good! It's set in a sort of fantasy China and involves a team of warriors (who each have special powers) sent to hunt down and retrieve some rebels. It has heartwarming shounen-ai between gorgeous -- and I mean GORGEOUS -- guys who know how to kick total ass, terrific combat scenes, brainwashing, just the right amount of angst to make things interesting.... Personally, I think that the Emperor in JH (the leader of the good guys in Jinjuu Houretsuden) has Hotohori beat in the looks department... and this Emperor survives! Also, he's not smitten with an immature, frequently foolish teenage girl (no, I don't hate Miaka -- I just don't like her a lot) who's in love with another guy. So there, Fushigi Yuugi! ::makes obscene gesture:: When I get some free time, I'll put up some scans so people can decide for themselves. ^_-

Manga BonBons has a excellent summary and list of characters for Jinjuu Houretsuden. Even better, Amparo Bertram has detailed summaries for the entire series! While you're at her website, be sure to check out her other wonderful manga and novel summaries, especially for Yami no Matsuei (Descendents of Darkness), Koori no Mamono no Monogatari (The Ice-Cold Demon's Tale), Ao no Kiseki (Locus of Blue), Silongtou (Four Dragon Island), and more! Damn, after reading some of those summaries, I really, REALLY wish I could read Japanese! ::sob::

Oh well. I'm planning to pick up the dvd for "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers". Yes, I know that the extended version will be out in October or November, but I can't wait that long! Besides, I missed it in the theaters last Christmas. :P

More DVD news. The Indiana Jones movie trilogy is going to be released on DVD in October (I think). Finally! What took them so bloody long? ::scowl::

::slithers away to ogle Morimoto's biseinen some more::
