And no, for once I'm not talking about Cloud in Advent Children -- not that there's anything wrong with AC Cloud. Nope. Nothing at all. But this time, I'm talking about Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4).

The old Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2 -- whom many gamers complained was just "an emo whiny Solid-Snake-wannabe rookie boy". Personally, I didn't have a problem with him. ::shrug::

The remade Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 4 -- now a uber-deadly and focused cyborg(?)-ninja who takes down very nimble and fast-moving gears (i.e., fighting robots or mecha of some sort) with just a katana (or two)

And I thought Cloud got a major makeover! O_o

I was clearing out some recent game magazines and came across an article on Metal Gear Solid 4 and the 15 minute trailer that came out at the 2006 E3 show. I took one look at the new Raiden and immediately scuttled off to track down the video. Oh YUM.

Here's the MGS2 Raiden. Okay, kinda cute, but bit ho-hum. ::shrug::

And here's MGS4 Raiden. ::gibbers happily::

Yes, the new Raiden appears to have (or be wearing) high heels. Don't let that bother you in the slightest. They certainly don't bother Raiden, as you will see if you watch the video. ^_-

In the same way you have to see AC Cloud in action to get the full effect, you simply have to see the new Raiden in action to fully appreciate what I'm fangirling about.

So check MGS4 Raiden's Return on YouTube! (You'll see Raiden in the last 2/3 of the 3 min video excerpt.)
